The HC Welcomes Ken Zendel as Chief Operating Officer
November 12, 2025
The Zekelman Holocaust Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Ken Zendel as our new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Ken joins The HC with more than two decades of executive leadership experience across nonprofit and corporate sectors, including his recent tenure as CEO of the National Association of Investors (BetterInvesting), where he led the organization through digital transformation, strong fiscal performance, and meaningful member engagement.
At The HC, Ken will oversee daily operations, guide long-term strategic planning, and support the continued evolution of The HC’s educational and community programming.
“Ken brings an outstanding combination of operational expertise, strategic vision, and a deep appreciation for mission-driven work,” said Rabbi Eli Mayerfeld, CEO. “His leadership will help ensure that The HC continues to deliver exceptional educational experiences and expand its reach to new audiences across Michigan and beyond.”
Ken’s career reflects a balance of business acumen and purpose-driven leadership. Before leading the National Association of Investors (NAIC), he held senior roles at Isobar, GTB (formerly JWT Detroit), and Leo Burnett Worldwide, where he guided teams on Ford Motor Company, General Motors, the Ad Council, and others.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Chicago, completing his studies in three years, and recently earned a Nonprofit Essentials Certificate through NonprofitReady. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Citizens Research Council of Michigan.
“I am honored to join The Zekelman Holocaust Center and contribute to an organization that safeguards memory while empowering people to confront hatred,” said Ken. “I look forward to working with Rabbi Mayerfeld and the team to strengthen our operations and help advance the organization’s mission.”
Ken’s appointment as COO reflects The HC’s ongoing investment in strong leadership and operational excellence as the organization continues to grow its impact through education, partnerships, and community engagement.
