Remembering Those Lost
On May 1, 2016, the Holocaust Memorial Center hosted an annual community-wide Yom HaShoah commemoration. The commemoration began with the Posting of the Colors by members of the Jewish War Veterans, Department of Michigan. It was led by Steven Grant, Chairman of the Holocaust Memorial Center, and Rabbi Aaron Bergman and Hazzan Daniel Gross of Adat Shalom Synagogue. It featured the lighting of candles designed to remember and honor those lost in the Holocaust by Holocaust survivors Edith and Marvin Kozlowski, Ruth Adler Schnee and Charles Adler, Fryda Fleish, Shoshana and Sol Winkler, Eva and Jan Rival, Zita Weber, Michael Weiss, Rae and Simon Binke and Edward Malinowski and their families. It also included readings by BBYO Michigan Region members and Annette Ferber, remarks by Lori and Steve Weisberg, and greetings from Shaarit Haplaytah, the Hidden Children and Child Survivors Association of Michigan, and the Program for Holocaust Survivors and Families
