Mi Boe Resolution December 2024

Michigan Calls for Increased Teaching and Training About Antisemitism

December 16, 2024

On December 10, the Michigan State Board of Education passed a resolution on increased teaching and training about antisemitism in response to rising acts of hate against Jewish people, and with serious concern about a future America “that may grow less welcoming to Jews.”

The board resolution encourages the education of all students and teachers on the historical dangers of antisemitism as part of Holocaust history, supporting training and integrating sound content about antisemitism into the classroom.

We applaud the State Board of Education’s passage of a resolution calling for increased teaching and training about antisemitism, and we welcome the opportunity to expand our work with schools across the state, teaching the origins of antisemitism as part of Holocaust education.

At The HC, visitors explore the ancient roots of antisemitism and its modern manifestations in Nazi ideology, Holocaust denial, and the anti-Jewish hate we see today. When people understand the roots of antisemitism, they can actively confront the contemporary forms it takes today.

As a society, we can then all work towards building a more just and inclusive world, one in which school communities and the public at large are empowered to prevent antisemitic behavior from taking place.
