
Summer Academy for Michigan Educators

We invite all Michigan educators to attend The Zekelman Holocaust Center for Summer Academy on August 4, 5, 6, and 7. Whether you are new to teaching the Holocaust or an experienced Holocaust educator, The HC’s Summer Academy has specialized professional development sessions with resources for your classroom. This year, each day’s sessions will focus on one educational theme: Foundations of Holocaust Teaching, Media Literacy and Teaching the Holocaust, Diversity and the Holocaust, and Understanding and Preventing Genocide.
At Summer Academy, you will gain a deeper understanding of Holocaust history and pedagogical practices, plus you will receive:
- Attend three days and receive a free Educator Membership to The HC
- Free, classroom-ready teaching materials for multiple disciplines
- Free SCECH hours for each session completed
- Opportunities to collaborate with other educators around the state
- Daily lunch provided by The HC
- Priority booking for student field trips
- Access to our bus subsidy program for your visit with students next school year
Register for all four days or individual sessions. All sessions are completely free to Michigan educators.

Join us for a special Survivor Talk featuring Clara Garbon-Radnoti, a Hungarian Holocaust survivor and dedicated volunteer at The Zekelman Holocaust Center. The Zekelman Holocaust Center will close early on Wednesday, December 31, and Thursday, January 1, for the New Year holiday. Regular operating hours will resume on Friday, January 2, at 9:30 AM.

Closed for Christmas
The Zekelman Holocaust Center will close on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, for the Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays. Regular operating hours will resume on Friday, December 26, at 9:30 AM.

Closed for Thanksgiving
The Zekelman Holocaust Center will close on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, for Thanksgiving. Regular operating hours will resume on Sunday, November 30, at 9:30 AM.

Early Close for the 41st Anniversary Benefit
The Zekelman Holocaust Center will close early on Sunday, November 9, for the 41st Anniversary Benefit Regular operating hours will resume on Monday, November 10, at 9:30 AM.

Closed for Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah
The Zekelman Holocaust Center will close early on Monday, October 13, and remain closed through Wednesday, October 15, for the Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah holidays. Regular operating hours will resume on Thursday, October 16, at 9:30 AM.

Closed for Sukkot
The Zekelman Holocaust Center will close early on Monday, October 6, and remain closed through Wednesday, October 8, for Sukkot. Regular operating hours will resume on Thursday, October 9, at 9:30 AM.
