This event is now sold out. Please call (248) 553-2400 to be added to the waitlist.
RISE is a new rock musical about a group of Jewish women resistance fighters during the Holocaust who wage an uprising against the Nazi regime. The show is based on the true stories of the Kashariyot, or couriers, young Jewish women who disguised themselves as Aryan and traveled through Nazi territory, smuggling food, messages, and weapons to the underground resistance movements throughout occupied Europe. Enjoy a selection of scenes and songs from the show, followed by a discussion with the writer and composer, Josh Hershfield. A dessert reception will follow.
Joshua Daniel Hershfield is the American/Canadian/Israeli writer, composer, and lyricist of RISE. He studied at Antioch College, Berklee College of Music, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, before earning a Master’s degree in Holocaust Studies from Haifa University where he was an Azrieli Foundation scholar.
